1:1 frontend career mentoring

AI writes the code now.
Become a frontend developer who can't be replaced

AI has taken over implementation speed. What remains is the ability to decide what to build and prove that it works. You build that ability by taking one project with real users all the way through.

Who it's for

  • 2 to 4 years in, preparing to switch jobs

You have the years, but your resume is short on decisions you made yourself.

  • Returning after a career gap

Rather than explaining the gap, you want to prove yourself with what you build now.

  • Looking for your first job

You need one project people actually use, beyond tutorial projects.

  • Unsure of your direction in the AI era

If AI writes the code, you want to know what you should be good at.

What's different

  1. 01

    Judgment and verification over implementation

AI writes code too. You train the ability to decide what to build and prove it works.

  2. 02

One project with real users, all the way

Instead of many toy projects, you take one project with real users and metrics into production.

  3. 03

Through to your resume and interviews

We turn what you built into resume lines and interview answers, together.

8-session intensive curriculum

The first session diagnoses where you are. The rest of the curriculum is agreed with you based on that diagnosis.

Example curriculum

The eight sessions below show a common path. Topics and order change with your diagnosis.

  1. Session 1

    Diagnosis and problem definition

Assess where you stand and agree together on the topics and order for the remaining sessions.

  2. Session 2

    Design and decisions (ADR)

Record the reasons behind technical choices as ADRs, so you can explain your decisions in interviews.

  3. Session 3

    Verification (tests, MSW, Playwright)

From unit tests to E2E, build evidence that changes won't break things.

  4. Session 4

AI features (streaming, structured output, eval)

Add an LLM feature and build a workflow that measures its quality with evals.

  5. Session 5

    Performance (Core Web Vitals, before/after)

Find bottlenecks with metrics and show the improvement in numbers.

  6. Session 6

Web platform depth and accessibility (open source contribution)

Dig into the browser and accessibility, and land one small open source contribution.

  7. Session 7

Operations and iteration (monitoring, metrics, real users)

Monitor how real users behave and decide the next improvement from the metrics.

  8. Session 8

    Portfolio and interviews

Turn the project into your resume and portfolio, and finish with a mock interview.

FAQ

How does mentoring work?

All sessions are held online over video. We schedule by email after payment.

What skill level do I need?

Having built a small page with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is enough. We adjust your goals to your level in the first diagnosis session.

Should I choose 1:1 or the 8-session intensive?

Choose 1:1 to solve one problem you're stuck on right now. Choose the intensive to prepare everything from the project to your resume and interviews in one flow.

How do I join the Discord community?

Connect your Discord account with the button on the payment confirmation page and you'll join the mentee channel right away.

What is the refund policy?

Before the first session starts you get a full refund. After it starts, you get 2/3 back before one third of the total teaching time has passed, 1/2 before half has passed, and nothing after that. Anything not delivered because of the mentor is refunded in full.
